Transportation from Tatham

A new article, Transported from Tatham, written by New Zealander Ross Miller, describes how one of his ancestors was transported in 1801 from Tatham to a penal colony in Australia, after having been convicted at Lancaster quarter sessions of stealing milk.

1939 register for Tatham

A transcript is now available on the website. The Register listed the personal details and occupation of every civilian in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to allow the issue of identity cards, and organisation of rationing, as World War Two approached.

Society visit to Lowgill & Ivah, Saturday 12th August 2017

Place: Tatham Fells School, Lowgill, LA2 8RA (park on roadside)
Time: 2.00pm

John Wilson will lead a short (road) walk around Lowgill village and Ivah. This is an opportunity to learn about recent research on the respective settlements, especially by Mike Kelly and John.

No need to book. Members only, but you are welcome to join on the day (only £3 individual/£5 joint)
